My name is Gary English.
I live in Durban, South Africa.
I am an artist. I picked up a pencil when I was about six years old and began drawing. There was no learning curve, I immediately drew complex images better than most adults. It was as if I had been doing it for many years. A year or two later I was paining landscapes and seascapes with oils. My paintings skipped the refrigerator door stage. They went from the playpen directly onto people’s walls.
I studied art at high school, and then again at college, qualifying as a graphic designer many many years ago. Since then I have been keeping myself alive through art. I have worked in the commercial art industry for the past thirty years. In that time I have done just about everything there is to do with commercial art.
I currently run my own web development and search engine optimisation company. It is called Cybersmith. You can see the website at www.cybersmith.co.za.
I am married to a cat. I am her primary staff member.
I love fishing of any sort but mostly fly fishing. I am an inventor who has yet to invent anything of substance. I play guitar. I love growing bonsai.
I have been growing bonsai, and writing about bonsai for nearly thirty years. I currently write for the South African gardening magazine The Gardener. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping people grow better bonsai, quicker.
